Outside of a mild dusting we’ve had no snow here in the Northeast this year. In fact the temps have steadily been in the mid 40s and even up around 50…in February! So I’ve had to take my snow where I can get it, even if I have to import it.
My old friend Jack Sasson is a photographer who lives in Colorado. Jack often shares his amazing photos on Facebook and I will sometimes be so inspired by them that I ask him to send me a jpeg of the photo via email that I can use as reference to paint from. When I saw this shot I immediately wrote to him saying “give it up, GIVE IT UP!” The gentle curve of the frozen stream bed which gracefully leads the eye toward the back of the painting was an instant and irresistible design element and the lovely, weathered shed made for a great focal point.
So thanks for this one Jack!
